Black Jack - A Game of Skill
Black Jack is usually played with at least one or more 52-card
decks (2,3, 4, 5, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, J, Q, K, R), also including two
high cards (aces), two low cards (ones and eights), and usually a small stack
of chips, and is one of the earliest casino games. Black Jack is also worth
trying. Today, there's a very similar game called 21. However, blackjack rules
have not changed in the last century!
Blackjack is one of the oldest casino games and can be
attributed to many different origins. The most likely one is the Chinese game
of Mandarin, which has been attributed to Marco Polo. Blackjack was first
popular in the Americas when the Spaniards brought this game from China to
Spain. From that time on, blackjack was popular all over Europe and in the
Americas. As more casinos opened in these places, the demand for blackjack
quickly grew and now, it can be played almost anywhere.
If you remember back to when you were in college, you likely
played blackjack. Basically, blackjack is a variation of poker, but instead of
having the bettor throw numerous cards at the dealer, it has the bettor makes a
single bet and then all the cards are revealed one card at a time. The goal of
the game is to reach 11 points before your opponent does. In blackjack, there
are several ways to reach this goal. You can either buy cards from the dealer
or split the cards between yourself and your opponent so that you can hit them
with more cards than they can hit you with (called "blowing out"),
you can bet multiple times and hit the total value of the cards (called
"rolling" or "busting"), and you can even get multiple cards
and then "fold" your hand, meaning you take the money owed to you
plus the number of cards you have in your hand and then bet it back.
Two cards and a single card comprise the "tray" in a
traditional game of blackjack. There are many variations of the game, but the
basic rules remain the same. Two cards are placed face up into the middle of
the deck, with the number one on the left and the number eleven written across
the face of the card. In blackjack games with no dealer, the bettors are blind
until the dealer reveals the cards. When the cards are revealed, the bettor
must either bet the amount of cards that are in the card or fold and lose the
bet.
When the dealer reveals cards, bettors are given a chance to
surrender. The bettor may surrender by folding his hand and picking another
card from the deck, or he may choose to take another card and surrender that
card to the dealer. If a player bets the same amount as the amount of the pot,
he is forced to take another card and the game is over.
If you are in a multi-table Black Jack game, the dealer will deal
to all the players in turn. When this is going to end, the dealer will take one
card from each of the hands of all the players. You have to remember that this
is not a "deal" in the traditional sense of the word. The dealer is
simply taking the money from one card and splitting it into smaller portions,
depending on how much each player has bet. This is known as "dipping"
the bet and is a big strategy in multi-table games where there is a difference
in money wagered between the players.
